Week 1: Starting out

This week starts us off by questioning and re-imagining our assumptions. This lesson helps folks evaluate the mindset and ideas that lie beneath their understandings of culture. In this week we explore cultural relativism, ethnocentrism and get to compare and contrast different cultural assumptions. **** If you're one of my students, or you'll be taking this class from me, DON'T READ this lesson plan! These materials are designed for small group work with 1 hour of real-time conversation. Folks do individual reading, watching and writing before having a conversation with their group.
